When a firm welcomes an award winner as a new member of staff, the awards usually relate to their chosen career and expertise. However our new tax director Steve Ashworth, who specialises in employment taxes, has won his awards for his contributions to the food & drink sector.
This interest fits well with our strong reputation in the sector, something that Steve is keen to play a fundamental role in supporting.
His experience isn’t something to be sniffed at. He’s a food and restaurant judge for Taste of the West and the Guild of Fine Foods. He is also a member of the Feeding Bristol and Bristol Food Policy Council and chairs the West of England Local Enterprise Rural and Food Group and is a board member for Bristol Food Connections. As for awards, Steve has won the Best Dish title in the South West Chef of the Year competition in 2013 as well as winning the Somerset Life’s Food & Drink Hero in 2018.
Steve joined HMRC 30 years ago and since then has worked in a national accountancy firm before joining PKF Francis Clark, based in our newly opened office in Bristol. Specialising in employment taxes for businesses of all sizes, he has provided technical advice, support and assistance to start-ups through to large multi-nationals across all trade and industry sectors throughout the UK.
Steve commented “I’m really looking forward to being part of the business at such an exciting time. With the office only recently opened in Bristol, I really feel that I can make a difference. I love the fact that the firm also has such an interest in the food and drink sector as it’s obviously something very close to my heart and I’m extremely passionate about it!”
Mike Lea, Bristol Managing Partner commented “we’re so pleased to welcome Steve to our team in Bristol. He brings with him a wealth of experience which can only benefit our clients and colleagues alike. Steve is a great character who exudes enthusiasm for everything that he sets his mind to.”
