A chance for 20 exporters to win £2,000 each to help them reach global markets

The World of Opportunity grants programme (re) opened last week with £40,000 of grants to distribute. The programme that is run by  Heathrow and ‘Exporting is Great’ closes on 14 July 2018.

Per the press release:

  • The ‘World of Opportunity Programme’ will award 20 SMEs with grants worth £2,000 to fund vital trade missions, participation in trade shows or foreign market research. Department for International Trade (DIT) will once again support each winner to help their research and missions and promote the competition. Plaza Premium will also be providing complimentary lounge passes for the winners as they leave Heathrow on their journeys
  • The first ’World of Opportunity Programme‘ received over 290 applications from SMEs across the country and the programme is expected to remain as competitive this year. In order to win one of the coveted 20 grants, successful applicants will be asked to demonstrate why their business is suitable to expand their export capability, as well as outline why they have identified their target overseas market

Potential applicants should follow this link and in addition to some background questions, you need to answer the following questions:

  • Please provide a brief overview of your business and why you’re already exporting or want to export (200 words)
  • Describe how you would use the £2000 (200 words)
  • Does you plan relate to a specific trade mission, trade show or piece of market research already planned? If so please detail
  • Give a brief outline of what your business’ financial plan would be after spending this grant? (100 words)
