Whilst the excellent Great Cornish Food Festival will be taking a break in 2018; there are a couple of food and drink sector focused events I would like to draw your attention to that may help to partly fill the void.
Funding using the ‘crowd’ – 4 September 2018, Cornish Food Box Company, Walsingham Place, Truro, TR1 2RP
First up is our very own breakfast seminar looking at the funding landscape for food and drink producers in 2018/19: think less grants and more about the power of the crowd. This event was prompted by three developments affecting the local food and drink producers:
- Increased demand for product – including for export
- Cessation of a number of grant schemes – historically a source of expansion funding
- Popularity and accessibility of Crowdfunding to businesses in the sector

Dovetailing nicely with the breakfast event above is an event hosted by the Department for International Trade “The South West of England’s food industry is very popular right now and there is a growing appetite all over the world for our best food and drink products. With food and drink being a prominent sector for Cornwall, isn’t it time you thought about selling your products overseas?” – see also my earlier blog on this matter.
