ESIF Calling with “£millions of EU funding”

Featuring Richard Wadman | 25th October, 2018

Headlines and a plea to look through the Calls and / or attend the information events

“£8m EU funding available to Dorset” was the headline last week from Insider Media, but that only tells part of story… Across the South West there are currently 21 Calls for European Structural Investment Funds (ESIF) including those summarised below (for full list click here).

As I have said on previous blog posts on ESIF Calls, I strongly advise you to look through the Call Specifications and speak to the Technical Assistance (if any) in your LEP area if your attention is at all grabbed by the title of the Call.

I have also noted that at least one of the LEPs are hosting free information events which I would recommend that interested parties attend:

My summary of some of the ESIF Calls

The summary below is based on a quick scan through and I may have misinterpreted or missed something vital.  My read through is always with an eye on what might applicable to our client base – i.e., which calls may be open to an application from, for example a manufacturing business, as opposed to a business support agency.

Notes:

  1. Technical Assistance contacts for each LEP area can be found via this webpage.
  2. Appears to be aimed at ‘Business Support’ but there are indications that this Call maybe a precursor to funds being made available to SMEs as one of the Indicative Actions is “providing grants…” and/ or “provision of non-grant finance…”
  3. Where an LEP area has “transition” region and “developed” areas the figures quoted above are “transition” – lower figures in developed region
  4. Low carbon – Support and advice but also “investment” – scope for individual business to apply?
  5. R&I – scope for individual business to apply for R&I “infrastructure”?
