Potential grant support for businesses in Exeter

Earlier this month Exeter City Council launched a new grant – the Exeter Business Exceptional Hardship Fund.  This Fund has been sourced from the “small amount of funds remaining from the Additional Restrictions Grant.”

It is unclear how much money is available or whether there is a cap on the grant claimable?

Information so far:

Aim of the fund To make a contribution to the survival of viable Exeter businesses that have been directly impacted by Covid-19 and associated government restrictions and to help them to stay open and continue to serve their customers.
Examples of business costs that may be causing exceptional hardship
  • Premise costs – rent, mortgage, insurance, maintenance
  • Materials
  • Transport
  • Non-government supported staff costs
  • Normal ongoing payments on equipment and assets
  • Unavoidable maintenance of assets
  • Finance costs
  • Business utilities – energy costs, Wi-Fi etc.
To request an application Please email economy@exeter.gov.uk

Although details are scarce, I would encourage any business to at least consider applying if:

“a business is suffering from exceptional hardship; we encourage them to get in touch so that an application can be forwarded to them.  Each application is dealt with on a case-by-case and first-come, first-served basis, so once the fund has been allocated to businesses, there are no further grants available. Please do get in touch.”
