Innovate UK – SMART
Back in February, we blogged about Innovate UK’s ‘open grant funding’ programme and specifically a round/ competition that came to an end on 25 April. Now I can advise that a new round/ competition of this programme, renamed SMART, has opened.
As the background details remain the same, I would recommend reading the summary on eligibility etc. in my previous blog post, initially to see if you feel you have a project that fits the criteria.
More details including a timetable for the current round can be found here.
If you have any further questions about eligibility, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
As always with any R&D grant funding, keep in consideration the interaction between grants and R&D Tax Credits – see also below.
R&D Tax Credits – lenders providing ‘bridging finance’
I am aware that a colleague has successfully assisted a client in raising funds ‘secured’ on a tax credit payment due from HMRC. I further understand from a conversation with my contact at Capitalise that there are a (small) number of lenders able to offer this facility. I will liaise with my colleague and Capitalise to get more details and blog about this in due course.
R&D to take centre stage in Cornwall Business Week
R&D is the focus of two events happening at Cornwall Business Week in June this year. Hosted by Acceleration Through Innovation at Finance in Cornwall on 25 June, one of the sessions is provisionally entitled ‘R&D funding and business support’ and will feature short presentations on a variety of funding and business support initiatives potentially available to businesses in the county.
Acceleration Though Innovation will be hosting a separate event the following day, ‘Innovation For Business – Making the Change for Tomorrow’. “The conference will provide businesses with the opportunity to get involved in high level discussions, attend innovation workshops and experience demonstrations of emerging tech, such as robotics and immersive theatre.” For more details and to book a place, please click here.
