We are named after our founder Francis S Clark.
After practising as a certified accountant in Salisbury, Rhodesia – now Harare, Zimbabwe – he returned to England and opened an office in Newton Abbot in November 1919.
That was over a century ago and since then, we’ve grown across the south and south west, with Exeter, Torquay, Poole, Plymouth, Salisbury, Taunton, Truro and Bristol. We’ve done this by merging with practices that shared our values and objectives, and in the process we’ve become the largest independent firm of chartered accountants in the region.
In 2016, we joined PKF, an international network of independently-owned accountancy practices with a global presence in 150 countries, and we re-branded as PKF Francis Clark. Membership of PKF has meant we can better support clients here in the UK and around the world, especially those with international and cross border interests.
Since Frank first put up his plate in Newton Abbot, we’ve expanded his original vision from one partner with an assistant to 54 partners and over 800 staff with eight offices in the South West.
We can do all this because we have a shared ambition for each and every business we work with. We help transform a start-up into a thriving company. An unexpected inheritance into a fresh start.
