Scott joined PKF Francis Clark in 2014, he is a chartered tax adviser and tax director in the employer solutions team. He specialises in all aspects of employment tax, construction industry scheme and national minimum wage, providing technical advice, support and assistance to start ups through to large multi nationals across all trade and industry sectors throughout the UK.
He particularly enjoys navigating clients through the many recent changes within the UK employment taxes legislation, including termination payment changes, salary sacrifice restrictions, the intermediaries’ legislation (revised agency rules), covid support measures (the job retention and self-employed income support schemes) and the public and private sector off-payroll working legislation (IR35 revisions).
Before joining PKF Francis Clark, Scott was an in-house employment tax manager for a large employer of over 10,000 employees globally, managing the global employer compliance obligations and liaising with HMRC and other international tax authorities on employment tax matters. Through his past experience, Scott helps clients with all matters relating to internationally mobile employees including application of the UK statutory residency test, secondment planning advice, and assistance with the associated UK compliance.
Scott has significant experience in dealing with HMRC and supports clients in HMRC employer compliance enquiries, national minimum wage reviews, tax investigations and voluntary disclosures. Through this experience he is well placed to help clients wanting to undertake internal reviews of their employer compliance, as well as providing support on employment tax matters for clients undertaking due diligence connected to corporate sales and acquisitions.
Along with holding a master’s degree in accountancy, he is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
