Steve Ashworth

Before joining the Bristol office of PKF Francis Clark in July 2019, Steve started his career at HMRC over 30 years ago and then spent 12 years at a national accountancy firm specialising in employment tax for businesses of all sizes.

Steve has spent the last 12 months providing Covid support measures for the Coronovirus Job Support Scheme (CJRS) and the public and private sector off-payroll working legislation (IR35 revisions). He has produced a number of blogs and articles in these areas and has assisted colleagues, clients and contacts.

Steve specialises in all aspects of employment tax and the Construction Industry Scheme in particular PAYE tax and National Insurance, Expenses, Benefits in Kind, P11Ds, PAYE Settlement Agreements, Employment Tax Healthchecks (before, during or after an HMRC PAYE review), UK payroll queries, International payroll (coming to the UK and going overseas), Construction Industry, Employment Status and IR35, Termination payments, Due Diligence and Employment Related Securities and Share Schemes.

He provides technical advice, support and assistance to start ups through to large multi nationals across all trade and industry sectors throughout the UK, but has regularly dealt with clients within the food, drink and hospitality, aerospace and defence, media, technology and manufacturing sectors.

He is a regular speaker at networking events and industry seminars and has written numerous articles on employment tax published by local and national press and can be regularly heard on BBC Somerset and Bristol.

Steve lives in Taunton and is passionate about food and drink. In 2013 he won the amateur version of SW Chef of the Year and is 2018 Somerset Life Food and Drink Hero. He is a food and restaurant judge for Taste of the West, Guild of Fine Foods and Western Daily Press and is on the executive judging panel of the Soil Association.

He is a member of Feeding Bristol and Bristol Food Policy Council, Chairs the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership Rural and Food Group and is a Board Member for Bristol Food Connections. As well as organising charity dinners and food festivals where Steve is often found compering on the food demo stage.

Steve is married and has 3 grown up children. He is also a Burnley Football Club supporter.
