Joe Francis

Joe joined PKF Francis Clark in 2023 with over 20 years’ indirect tax experience gained in mid-tier firms working with a broad range of private and public sector clients with national and global activities.

Most of Joe’s experience have been gained working with clients in the pharmaceutical, health and welfare, technology, energy, property, marine, hospitality and travel sectors.  He assisted UK police forces obtain substantial VAT refunds from HMRC in relation to vehicles seized and disposed under police powers.

A strong believer in building and preserving deep client relationships, Joe takes time to clearly understand his clients’ challenges before advising on likely options and solutions.  With this approach, he has successfully supported clients in a range of VAT issues around tax governance, risk mitigation and realising VAT opportunities.

Very recently, despite the odds, Joe successfully obtained HMRC’s agreement to set aside a multi-million VAT assessment issued to a client following a relentless complaint process that involved both the Adjudicator and the PMHSO.

Away from the world of VAT, Joe enjoys cycling, travelling, and spending time with his family.
