A PASSION FOR WHAT WE DO

Our charity & not-for-profit accounting specialists are passionate about the sector. They’ll provide you with a great combination of approachable, proactive and professional service allied to a real depth of understanding.

For our people it’s about building relationships, not ticking boxes.

We can act as your critical friend and a sounding board in an often daunting world. Our staff enjoy working in partnership with boards and executives so that they can focus on what is important – making the organisation a success.

Our specialist services for Charities and Not-for-Profit organisations are:

Financial Reporting and assurance services

Our partnership approach to Audit & Assurance work ensures quality and client care are right at the heart of what we do. Our ambition is to provide much more than simply compliance – we want to add value in everything we do.

We start with our audit risk assessment which allows us to tailor the audit and to focus on the main risks and issues. We are pragmatic in our approach and draw from our wealth of commercial expertise, as well as Not-for-Profit experience, as we know our clients value this insight.

We ensure good management and board communication is maintained during the audit process and we actively engage with all the stakeholders throughout. Our common aim is a set of audited accounts, delivered with minimal disruption and within the required timescales.

We see it as a fundamental part of our role as auditors to help the board discharge some of their onerous responsibilities, and our innovative audit completion report helps with just that.

It sets out the main risks and our recommendations as well as financial commentary and our clients find it an invaluable tool.

For those entities which fall outside of the audit regime but need an independent examination, we can conduct this in line with the new Charity Commission guidance.

Tax and VAT

It is a common misconception that not-for-profit organisations operate in an environment free from the burdens of tax and VAT. We know better. Whilst there are reliefs and exemptions, in reality the tax and VAT regimes may present significant challenges to your organisation.

There are many factors which may affect your organisation’s exposure to tax and VAT and our dedicated blog ‘Does my charity need to pay VAT & Tax?’ explains this further.

Gift Aid is an area of tax specifically relating to not-for-profit organisations and we have a large number of clients who benefit from this scheme. We also ensure your organisation maximises Gift Aid and follows the correct procedures.

ADDING REAL VALUE TO CHARITIES & NOT-FOR-PROFITS

We act as your critical friend and a sounding board in an often daunting world. Our staff enjoy working in partnership with boards and executives so that they can all focus on what’s important – making your organisation a success.

As part of our commitment to the sector we offer year-round information to clients, whether in the form of our free annual charity conferences, technical newsletters or bulletins.

Each of our offices has a nominated Charity of the Year and thousands of pounds are raised every year in support of these local causes.

Our partners and staff believe that it’s important to contribute to the communities from which we make a living. We therefore undertake various honorary roles, working in the wider community in our spare time, or in time offered by the firm.

Please contact our specialist charities and not-for-profit team in your local office to find out how we can add value to your organisation.
